Once the merge and check in is done, you’re ready to prepare for the build process. The build involves Visual Studio, the Domain Controller and the Build machine which are both hosted as virtual machines on Windows Azure. First, let’s start the virtual machines. Open your browser, navigate to Windows Azure and log into your Management Portal.

Once logged in, you will see the following:

  1. Click on Virtual Machines

You will then see the following screen. For the build process, you only need PSIDC (Domain controller) and PSIBuild01 (Build machine).

  1. Select PCIDC
  2. Click on Start

  1. Click Yes

  1. It will let you know that it’s starting.

  1. Select PSIBuild01
  2. Click on Start

  1. Click Yes

When both of them are running, the portal should look like this:

  1. PSIDC running
  2. PSIBuild01 running

The next section will explain what you need to do in Visual Studio to build an application.
