6.5. Create a source

Do you want to add a site to your watch?

First check if it is in the community library (see how to Import sources from Cikisi library).

It isn’t there ? So create it!

Cikisi allows you to create your own robots of collect to put a website under automatic surveillance.

Creating a source is quite simple on Cikisi

Go to the “sources” menu on the left, then click on “create a source” at the top left.

Here you will find all the “targeted” and “radar” robot creation modules.

The “targeted” sources

The targeted sources represent the vast majority of websites on the Internet. This may be the online newspaper “Le Figaro”, the European Commission website, etc.

Any website that publishes its own pages and documents.

Very often, you will only have to paste a URL to create this type of robot.

“Radar” sources

These are search engines or information aggregators.
Here, the robots do not monitor specific websites, but rather launch searches based on the keywords that you indicate to the robot.

*For example, let’s create a bot “Twitter Search” with the keyword “Kellogs”. The source will run this search, in Twitter’s search bar, every six hours and bring back new results to Cikisi. It’s a safe bet that the results will be tweets from “Mister and Mrs Everybody” concerning Kellogs.

!Radar sources can be a good way to enlarge his insight and sourcing strength, but watch out for the noise! If you want to expand your horizons, a theme in ALL sources (community library) gives quite the same results and offers you many more means of filtering.
