The AI Assistant offers two powerful tools for refining your text:
Rewrite with AI:
Converts shorthand or partial sentences into clear, professional full sentences. Ideal for most headings where complete statements are desired.
Grammar, Spelling & Punctuation:
Cleans up your original text without changing its structure. Best used when you’ve entered shorthand or fragmentary notes you want to keep.
This dual-option system allows you to maintain full control over how much the AI adjusts your content—supporting both quick cleanup and full-sentence rewrites while preserving reporting accuracy.
One major advantage of the AI Assistant is that you no longer need to type full sentences or write in complete thoughts. You can input shorthand or partial statements, and the AI will professionally rewrite your content into clear, complete sentences. The AI is intentionally designed to correct your wording concisely without adding or embellishing your content. This helps maintain the integrity of your reporting.
When accessing the AI menu, you’ll notice two options:
Rewrite with AI
Correct Grammar, Spelling & Punctuation
There’s an important distinction between the two. In many cases, you may not want the AI to fully rewrite your statement—especially when you’ve intentionally used a partial phrase. For instance, under some headings, we might enter shorthand notes that we want to preserve. If you choose the full rewrite option in those cases, the AI may insert details based on context (like the section name or topic).
A good example is the General Vessel Information section, where users often input short, fragmentary notes. In these cases, the Grammar Only correction is the better choice, as it preserves your original structure while fixing any spelling or punctuation errors.
Of course, when using the Rewrite function, spelling and grammar corrections are also included. However, these two options exist to give you greater control over how much the AI adjusts your content.
