Hippotizer is continuously being developed and improved; please read these notes carefully to understand the changes and limitations with each version.
Software Assurance determines what version of Hippotizer will install and run on a system. Once installed, software will continue to function indefinitely. Please see the Software Assurance Policy section of this manual for more information.
Installation Notes:
- The recommended capture card driver version has been updated. If you have a capture card fitted, please select ‘Yes’ when asked during installation to update your drivers to the correct version.
- MA3 personalities are now included in the installation directory. After installing Hippotizer they can be found in: C:\Program Files\GreenHippo\HippotizerV4\documentation\3rdParty
Features added in 4.8.4
Functionality Changes In 4.8.4
Fan Profiles will now accommodate for certain Datapath capture cards. Fans will now ramp up if capture card temps are detected at a not stable level. Once cooled fans will revert to the safe profile.
HippoLauncher on Nevis now no longer has EDID emulation. To setup EDID emulation on Nevis please set up using the steps found here.
Fixes in 4.8.4
- 3807: Pixelmapper no longer adjusts two characters when using Del/Backspace/Arrow keys.
- 5855: Moving Presets no longer breaks Bank Slot readout in TimelinePlus.
- 5897: Fixed some Rest API errors when using Preset and Timeline Modules.
- 5920: Improved behavior of TimelinePlus starting with the engine.
- 5858: Pixelmapper UI should now work as intended in Windows 11.
- 6021: Auto Sync to MediaManagers now correctly works with Watchfolders

Known issues in 4.8.4
- 6585: Components Live Log is not currently updating live.
- 6209: Importing legacy Timeline components into Timeline+ has the incorrect speed values stored in keyframes.

Timeline+ Improvements
- Extended media player ribbon info overlay to include duration and start time.
- Media player clip info now shown in properties panel.
- Media player keyframes can now snap to the end of a clip ribbon.
- Auto-Play timelines on start-up options now added to timeline properties.
- Added a search feature for Timeline+ tracks. Search filtering can now be stored directly into track filters.
- Adding search filtering in the properties panel.
- Show only tracks with keyframes button added in the track filter section of the Timeline+ editor.
- New right click menu option for inserting previous or following keyframes when hovering over a track in the timeline editor.
New MacroManager functions for HTTP devices
- Added both ‘Get’ and ‘Post’ functions to the MacroManager allowing for commmunication to a specified address, with support for header and media type information.
Functionality Changes In 4.8.3
Expanded Timeline+ API for MacroManager to include a timecode enabled object.
Mpeg Converter tool is now deprecated and has been removed from the HippoLauncher Advanced tab. Please use version 4.5 of Hippotizer to convert V3 libraries to the FlexRes format.
Mask FX Update Included a 5th parameter; Play mode: values below 0.5 are play forward once playmode, values of 0.5 or above are play forward looping playmode. Play modes affect the masking clip only.
Fixes in 4.8.3
- 5636: Duplicate right click menu option removed from unsupported MultiController devices.
- 5656; Fixed double click to reset shortcut on some elements in the Mixes page.
- 5689; Fixed timecode offset, through the Notch Engine, becoming incrorrect after a restart of Hippotizer Engine.
- 5690: Automatically close ZooKeeper sub-windows after 10 seconds when using HippoLauncher ‘Shutdown ZooKeeper’ button or closing a main ZooKeeper window.
- 5719: Updated Touch Engine SDK to allow texture sharing support for later versions of Tox components.
- 5741: Fixed the shape visualiser pin, when set to shaded texture mode, incorrectly showing the ZooKeeper background texture.
- 5796: Fixed Preset Timeline not controlling a remote Engine after the remote has been restarted.
- 5812: Fixed an Engine crash when connecting a Streamdeck to the server while running.
- 5819: Improved ZooKeeper performance for increased quantity of pins in custom views.

Features added in 4.8.2
Export Map Image from Video Mapper: Users can now export an image of the input or output video map layout straight to PNG format. Maps can be uploaded to the Media Manager for playback straight from a layers mediaplayer.
Functionality Changes In 4.8.2
- 5359: Hosts in MediaManager now have a blue sync icon when actively syncing to another host. A green icon means the host is ready to sync, and a grey icon is when sync is not configured.
- 5554: The Zip Debug feature contains additional information for faster support.
- 5555: HippoLauncher Licensing page has been improved, including information for active license version and, if required, the number of versions to extend license to the installed version.
- 5563: Preset overlay in Timeline+ now includes bank and slot values as well as name and time.
Fixes in 4.8.2
- 4478: Mix Selector container no longer removes embedded pins when leaving the custom pinboard view.
- 5355: Engine and ZooKeeper now both have a shutdown prompt when using shutdown buttons from HippoLauncher.
- 5523: Improved pinboard behaviour when DPI scaling is enabled. Pin can now be dragged across entire pinboard area.
- 5553: TimelinePlus goto cue operations in multicontroller are no longer clamped to values below 100.
- 5556: Improved Input level response before saving project and restarting engine.
- 5564 Fixed newly created livemasks not working.
Known issues in 4.8.2
- 3125: Audio track starts always from the in-point when scrubbing through a timeline in Timeline+.
- 3146: ZooKeeper SHAPE visualiser shows selections made in SHAPE software when ZooKeeper is part of group
- 4176: Virtualised Viewports settings is not applied from an imported OutputManager component.
- 4244: Renaming the system could result in an Engine crash. Workaround: Reinstall software or * rename system back to the default name.
- 4439: Host colour does not change to orange when Engine is configuring layers.
- 4518: MediaMaps of remote hosts does not display thumbnails in TimelinePlus.
- A previous error in the manual stated that shows from 4.7.X would import to 4.8 automatically when selecting the update option on installation. This is not the case and shows wishing to upgrade from any previous version of software to 4.8 should export all components to be imported into 4.8

Installation Notes
- When moving between feature version (eg. 4.3 to 4.4) always uninstall the previous version before installing new software.
- The minimum supported Datapath capture driver has changed. At least version 7.20.1 must be installed.
- Datapath drivers are now installed as part of the installer. Select yes when prompted to install them.
- 4.3 Is the minimum version of software supported by V4+ hardware .
- 4.6.4 Is the minimum version of software supported by V4+ MK2 hardware .
- From version 4.2 Onward the Hippotizer data is stored in new locations to comply with Microsoft Windows security guidelines.
- The binaries (executable files) are stored in: C:\Program Files\GreenHippo\HippotizerV4
- The settings are stored in: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\GreenHippo\4_5
- The Media folder by default on Portamus and Play is: C:\ProgramData\GreenHippo\MediaV4
- The Media folder by default on all other V4 and V4+ systems is D:\MediaV4
SHAPE Project file compatibility
- Project files created in SHAPE 4.3 and later are compatible with SHAPE 4.7.0
- Project files created in SHAPE 4.3 are compatible with SHAPE 4.3.1.
- Project files created in SHAPE 4.2 or 4.2.1 are compatible with SHAPE 4.3.1
- Project files created or edited in SHAPE 4.3.1 will not load in older versions of SHAPE.

Version 4.2.1 Removes Support for MPEG-2 Playback; please re-encode all content to FlexRes.

Martin P3-PC compatibility
Hippotizer can send video directly to the Martin P3-PC application running on the same machine, this requires a P3 Dongle.

Current CITP Support
CITP (Capture Interface Transport Protocol) is an open network protocol to allow visualisation software and lighting desks to exchange thumbnails and streaming previews from media servers. Green Hippo # works to ensure CITP is working correctly with as many 3rd party applications as possible. Here is a list of currently tested systems against this version.

Current Datapath Drivers
- If using Dual DVI, Dual SDI or AV-SDI capture cards, we recommend Datapath Driver version V7.27.0
- If using Quad SDI and Dual DP capture cards we recommend Datapath Driver version V7.27.0
- If using Dual HDMI capture cards we recommend Datapath Driver version V7.27.0
- On windows 8 systems the 7.27.0 Datapath drivers will not install. Because of this users with windows 8 systems should not use dual HDMI capture cards as this may lead to overheating and failure of the capture card. If using a Windows 8 system please use driver version 7.20.1
Capture drivers are now included with the installer.
When installing Hippotizer software you will be asked if capture card(s) are fitted. If yes, the installer will automatically deploy the correct drivers.
If a copy of the driver installer is needed, it will be placed on the Hippotizer at this location:
