The following are means of creating a keyframe on a track:

  • Using Edit Mode Add in the editor window to click a location within a track.
  • Using the keyframe controller to create a keyframe at the playhead location.
  • Using the insert keyframe function.

Edit Mode Add

This tool is located in the editor toolbar and turns the cursor into a drawing tool for keyframe creation. Clicking anywhere within a track, in a timeline, will create a keyframe at that location. Using Edit Mode Add is a quick way to create multiple keyframes in quick succession and then editing the properties for these keyframes in the properties panel.

Keyframe Controller

The keyframe controller can be found on selected tracks or in the properties panel next to pin values. These controls allows selection of the previous or next keyframe, from current playhead location, using the left and right arrow keys. Alternatively, clicking the central square will create a keyframe at the playhead location. When a keyframe is present either before, after or at the current playhead location the corresponding control of the widget will be red. Using this tool to quickly navigate around keyframes in a single track quick and easy.

Insert Keyframe

The right click menu within the editor includes the ‘Insert previous keyframe’ and ‘Insert following keyframe’ options. These options create a keyframe in the location of the cursor with a value of either the previous or following keyframe. The insert keyframe feature can be used on pin groups to create keyframes for all child pins, or used on child pins to store a single pin value in a keyframe.
