For medical clearances that are not automatically updated in Umoja from EarthMed, you must use PA30 to record the clearance, e.g., a physician’s certificate of health. As per the provisions of ST/AI/2018/4 on Medical Clearance, medical clearances are normally valid for three months from the date of issuance, and for the duty station and job type for which it was granted. This date of issuance is used as the effective date for the medical clearance record.

To record such medical clearances manually, follow the procedures for Preboard Request Medical Clearance, but

  • Use the issuance date of the certificate of health as the effective date. Enter this date in the Start text box on infotype 0487, (Security/Medical Clearance) and
  • Select M2: Medical: Fit for Status of Clearance.

For Temporary Appt < 6 months:

  • Initial Appointment for < enter # of days/months > period.
  • Physician’s statement dated < enter date > from personal medical doctor received.
  • Medical certificate will be valid for one year from the date on the statement < enter validity period >.

For Temporary Appointments where a doctor’s note is sufficient:

  • Type medically cleared in the remarks section and reference the doctor’s note with date for record purposes.

For Initial Appointment regardless of duration:

  • Requires medical clearance, as determined by the United Nations Medical Director.
