Medical clearance conducted as part of the onboarding process is requested through the inspira OM Module. As part of the OM workflow, medical clearance for the following medical clearance types can only be initiated in inspira:
- Change of Duty Station
- Pre-recruitment
- Type of Job
Medical clearance through Umoja can only be raised for the following medical clearance types (all other medical clearance types – while visible- are disabled in Umoja):
- Non-inspira recruitment/movement
- Extension beyond retirement
- Extension of appointment
The Umoja medical clearance type “non-inspira recruitment/movement” is for OM cases where candidates have not been selected through inspira, e.g. lateral reassignments under the authority of the Head of Entity or placement of staff under the authority of the ASG OHR, to name a few.
As a result of improvements to the interface between Umoja and EarthMed, additional information is required when submitting Medical Clearance requests. Infotype 0487 (Security/Medical Clearance) now includes a Duty Station field, which must be completed with the personnel subarea code for the duty station at which the staff member will be working. This field is required for both onboarding and change of duty station medical clearances.
- Follow the Preboard Request Medical Clearance procedure documented in the Onboarding job aid for all inspira recruitments. For non-inspira recruitments/movements, extension beyond retirement and extension of appointment update the staff members’ records in Umoja.
- On infotype 0487 select MCLR for Clearance Type, and the values for Clearance Category and Application Status appropriate for the Staff Member you are processing; and enter or search for the Duty Station (Personnel Subarea) at which the Staff Member will be working. When searching using the Duty Station Text field, the * wild card character can be used.
It is mandatory to complete this field even though you can currently validate and save the record without providing a value for Duty Station. A change making Duty Station a required field is pending.
