This infotype stores data pertaining to the staff member’s security clearance, medical clearance and background screening. It can be created prior to executing a PA in order to request medical clearance.
As part of the OM workflow, medical clearance for the following medical clearance types can only be initiated in inspira:
- Change of Duty Station
- Pre-recruitment
- Type of Job
Medical clearance in Umoja can only be initiated for:
- Non-inspira recruitment/movement
- Extension beyond retirement
- Extension of appointment
So always check with the onboarding team whether the medical clearance request has already been submitted in inspira. Once the cleared by MSD Earthmed will update Umoja and the staff member records will show as M2 Medically cleared.
If the medical clearance has already been requested by the onboarding team in inspira, you must skip this infotype.
If you are initiating the medical clearance in Umoja, the infotype consists of the three following sections:
- Clearance Information
- Remarks
- Additional fields
As a result of improvements to the interface between Umoja and EarthMed, additional information is required when submitting Medical Clearance requests. Infotype 0487 now includes a Duty Station field, which must be completed with the personnel subarea code for the duty station at which the staff member will be working. This field is required for both onboarding and change of duty station medical clearances.
- Follow the Preboard Request Medical Clearance procedure documented in the Onboarding job aid.
- On infotype 0487 (Create Security/Medical Clearance) select
- _MCLR _for Clearance Type,
- Non-inspira recruitment/movements for Clearance Category
- Medical Requested for Application Status which creates a reference number. When the Medical Division approves the request, whether initiated in inspira or Umoja, the status will automatically change to Fit.
- then enter or search for the Duty Station (Personnel Subarea) at which the Staff Member will be working. When searching using the Duty Station Text field, the * wild card character can be used.
