WELCOME TO OUR TEAM

We are pleased that you made a decision to join us. The concept of our team is vital to our success as a company. Individuals on the team contribute to the goals of the company by their own growth and achievement. You should be proud of yourself. We are confident that your contributions will be a vital component of our mutual success. In many ways, you represent Popeyes to our customers.

POPEYES HISTORY

Forty-six years ago in New Orleans, Louisiana, a taste sensation was born! What began as one small restaurant and one big idea turned into a craze that swept the nation – and the world.

In 1972, Alvin C. Copeland Sr., opened “Chicken On The Run” in the New Orleans suburb of Arabi where he served traditional Southern-fried chicken. After several months of lackluster performance, he reopened the restaurant as “Popeyes” (after Popeye Doyal of The French Connection). This time he sells spicy, New Orleans-style chicken. In 1976, Popeyes opened our first franchise restaurant in New Orleans. In 1983, we introduced our famous buttermilk biscuits, which are still a staple menu item today. By 1984 we opened our first international franchise restaurant in Toronto, Canada. We celebrated the opening of our 500th franchise restaurant in 1984 in Landover, Maryland and became the number-three quick-service chicken chain. In 1999, we hit a major milestone and surpassed one billion-dollar annual sales mark for the first time. Then, in 2001, we became the number-two quick-service chicken chain and celebrated our new heritage-designed restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia. We reinvented our brand in 2008, and became known as Popeyes ® Louisiana Kitchen based on our longstanding roots in Louisiana-inspired home cooking. This included a new logo, distinctive new products and a new advertising campaign touting “LOUISIANA Fast”. In 2011, we opened our 2,000th restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2012, and today we are continuing to express our ingenuity by inventing various unique and delicious Louisiana-style meals for the world to enjoy!

THE EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP

Your employment with TICE is as an employee-at-will. This means that your employment with TICE can be terminated by you or by TICE at any time and for any reason. TICE retains the right to terminate the employment of any employee at any time with or without cause, and with or without notice or warning.

Nothing contained in this handbook promises or represents that you have the right to continued employment or protection against termination.

No person except the C.E.O. of TICE has the authority to create an agreement differing in terms from this policy and any such agreement must be in writing and signed by both you and the C.E.O. No oral promises or statements will be effective or binding on either party. Accordingly, no promise, statement, custom or act of TICE or its representative constitutes or provides the basis for any employment contract unless it is placed in writing and is signed by the C.E.O. and you. If you believe that a comment, statement, custom or act has created an employment contract, you must immediately report it in writing to the C.E.O. of the Company. You must not, and TICE does not, expect you to take any action or refrain from taking any action based on any such promise, statement, custom or act.

By accepting employment, or by continuing in the employment of TICE, including the receipt of compensation and fringe benefits, after you have been given a copy of this handbook, you recognize that you are an employee-at-will whose employment may be terminated at TICE’s discretion and that you are employed by TICE as is defined in this The Employment Relationship section of this handbook.
