A ‘deep’ clean of the motor should be performed periodically to remove salt/grime and grease that may build up over time as a result of not being removed as part of the post operational wash-down.
- Clean the complete motor including: motor cowl, tiller arm, steering bracket, transom clamp screws, transom bracket (including the gearbox) and power head using kerosene/ and or a product such as CT18 or detergent and a paintbrush.
- When finished lay motor on its back and rinse over with fresh water avoiding the carburettor area.
- Return the motor to the upright position and wipe down off remaining grim etc with a clean rag.
- Spray motor power head with a water dispersant agent.
- Stow motor with the motor cover loosely fitted to assist with condensation build up on the power head during extended stowage times.
