There are two types of motor currently in use:
Both are virtually identical (different paint and stickers) 2 stroke motors.
The advantages of 2 stroke include:
- Reliability.
- Simplicity of design.
- Good power to weight ratio.
- Lightweight compared to 4 stroke equivalent.
- Relatively low maintenance requirements.
- Relatively easy to perform “Roll Over Procedure”.
The disadvantages of 2 stroke include:
- Higher emissions and pollution compared to 4 stroke motors.
- Need to mix oil and petrol in a set ratio (50:1).
- Poor fuel efficiency.
- Noisy.
