The following instructions provide guidance on how to install the necessary software to facilitate communication between your PC and SL-RAT device. These instructions are for NEW installations only. Required Items:
- Log in credentials to www.sl-dog.com
- Active internet connection
- Supported web browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer)
- PC with Windows installed (XP, 7, 8, 10, 11)
STEP 1. Log into your SL-DOG Portal
Go to www.sl-dog.com in a supported browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer) and log into your portal.
STEP 2. Go to Support documents in the header menu
STEP 3. Install USB Set Up
Click “USB Setup” under “Required Downloads for SL-DOG”
The file you download will be in a compressed format. Make sure to extract the file before running the program.
*How to Verify if you have correctly set up USB Set up:
The unit must be plugged into the computer to perform the actions below.
1. Open Device Manager on your computer (Hold the Windows icon on your keyboard and press x). Expand “Ports” and “Universal Serial Bus controllers” by clicking the dropdowns. You should see something similar to this (USB COM number may be different for everyone):
Double click the “USB Serial COM3” and should say this device is working properly.
Double click the “USB Serial Converter” and should say this device is working properly.
Go to the “Power Management” tab on the “USB Serial Converter” and make sure the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is not checked.
STEP 4. Install System Set up.
Click “System Setup” under “Required Downloads for SL-DOG”.
Once the file downloads, select file “SL-DOG_Setup_v404s” to initiate program setup.
Depending on your virus protection software or PC configurations, Windows may signal a warning. Please select “More information” and ensure that the Publisher is InfoSense, Inc. and select “Run anyway.” Click “Next” to progress through installation steps. Please note, we recommend selecting “Everyone” during the Select Installation Folder step.
Download time depends on the user’s internet speed and connection. We anticipate the update should not take more than a few minutes in most cases. You have now successfully updated your SL-DOG local client to Version 4! You should see the following icon on your desktop for future access.
