In a case where a staff member transferred from the UN Secretariat to another UN organization and then returns to UN Secretariat under an inter-agency agreement, the “EOD UN Secretariat” will be the most recent appointment effective date with the Secretariat. The “EOD UN Common System” will be the first appointment effective date with the UN Secretariat.
Example: a staff member initially appointed with the Secretariat on 15 September 1999, who was transferred under the inter-agency agreement to UNFPA on 1 March 2005, and re-joined the Secretariat under an interagency transfer on 1 May 2019, will have his/her EODs as follows:
- EOD UN Common System: 15/09/1999
- EOD UN Secretariat: 01/05/2019
