When a staff member from another UN Organization (i.e. Funds and Programmes or a UN Common System organization) joins the UN Secretariat on an inter-agency secondment, loan or transfer his/her “EOD UN Secretariat” is the effective date of his/her temporary assignment or movement to the Secretariat. However, EOD Common System date remains his/her entry-on-duty date at his/her releasing organization.
Example: if a Staff Member joined the Secretariat on an inter-agency secondment from UNICEF on 1 January 2019, and was initially appointed with UNICEF on 1 November 2006, then his/her EODS are as follows:
- EOD UN Common System: 01/11/2006
- EOD UN Secretariat: 01/01/2019
Example: if a Staff Member joined the Secretariat on an inter-agency transfer from UNDP on 1 April 2018, and was initially appointed with UNDP on 1 August 1998, then his/her EODs are as follows:
- EOD UN Common System: 01/08/1998
- EOD UN Secretariat: 01/04/2018
