When a staff member joins the UN Secretariat on initial appointment, his/her “EOD UN Secretariat” and “EOD Common System” dates are the effective date of that appointment with the UN Secretariat.
Example: a staff member who was initially appointed to the Secretariat on 1 July 2009 and there is no interruption of service (no separation action with the Organization, will have his/her EODs as follows:
- EOD UN Common System: 01/07/2009
- EOD UN Secretariat: 01/07/2009
