The user has the choice to control the scan from the PC Viewer before submitting the images to the IBM i Host System. This is known as PC control scanning.
To enable PC control scanning, navigate to Image/Preferences/Scanner Support. Uncheck IBM Host System Control.

Users may scan single pages or a batch of pages at the press of a button. Select the Page button for single page scanning or the Batch button for batch scanning. To insert, replace, and delete images, right-click an existing image filename. Once scanning is complete, press the Finished button.

Using PC control scanning, the system will indicate barcodes read during the scan/import process. The user can update barcode values and other indexes directly from the scan window prior to uploading. Enable Update Index Values to allow for manual index updates.

Users may select a new scan source from the scan device list available on the scan control screen. The scanner may be driven by TWAIN, Kofax or the source may be used to import images from a local or network hard drive with all the same functionality as if coming from the scanner. If scanning from a disk source (import from hard drive), the file import dialog will appear. The scan source list is loaded based on Preferences selected from the Scanner Support tab under Image/Preferences.
