Athlete awards are presented to athletes at the Victorian State Championships as per the below:
Open Athlete of the Meet – Water Events |
- Awarded to the most outstanding open athlete in water events at State Championships.
- Current events include surf race, board, ski, and iron. U17 and U19 are eligible, points taken on Open event results only

Open Athlete of the Meet – Beach Events |
- Awarded to the most outstanding open athlete in beach events at State Championships.
- Current events include long run, beach flags, and beach sprint. U17 and U19 are eligible, points taken on Open event results only

Champion Club of the Year – Senior |
- Awarded to the club with the highest Overall Point Score from Senior State Championships.
- Point score total includes R&R, First Aid Comp, Patrol, Champion Lifesaver, Surf Boats, Beach, and Water etc. (if held at separate events).

Rescue & Resuscitation
Youth 2 Person Team of the Year |
- To participate in Youth Team of the Year (YTOY) a team must compete at three carnivals, however participation at all four carnivals is permitted. The best three carnival scores will count.
- This award will be presented at the 2024 Victorian Lifesaving Championships.
- The best three scores from each team will count towards the point score system.
- The points system is based on attendance, achievement, and overall improvement.
Attendance Points:
- Attendance at only 1 carnival: 15 points
- Attendance at 2 carnivals: 10 points
- Attendance at 3 carnivals: 5 points
Achievement Score:
- The R&R score for each carnival will be added together, and then divided by number of carnivals attended. This average will then be added to attendance score and the lowest overall points will win. In the event of a tie, the lowest score at the 2024 Victorian Lifesaving Championships will decide the winner.

Geoff Waters OAM Perpetual Trophy |
- Applies to 5 & 6 person R&R events at the Victorian Lifesaving Championships
- Winner is determined by the accumulated carnival point score.

Maurie Rayner Scholarship |
- The Maurie Rayner Scholarship, supported by AC Goulding, was created in 2002 and has been awarded to outstanding athletes who are recognised by their sporting achievements throughout the season.
- Winner is determined by AC Goulding at end of State Championships
