The 2024/25 Victorian Juniors Championships will be held at Point Leo SLSC from 21-25 February 2025.
Entries close at 11.00pm on Sunday, 9 February 2025.
To compete at the Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships, competitors must have completed their Surf Education Award appropriate for their age group and their respective Club must record this in the Nipper Admin App and publish to Surfguard prior to close of entries.
Junior competitors must have competed in at least one LSV run carnival in the current season to be eligible to compete at the Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships
Restricted Entry to the 2025 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships
For the 2024 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships the following restrictions will be imposed on Belt and Reel, Board Rescue, and Ironman/Woman:
Qualifying events for the Belt and Reel Board Rescue and the Ironman/Woman will be conducted throughout the Season as per programming.
IRON PERSON: (32 competitors required)
- at carnival 1, top 10 will automatically qualify, 11-16 will be reserves
- at carnival 2 top 11 will qualify (excluding competitors already qualified) 12-16 will be reserves
- at carnival 3 top 11 will qualify (excluding competitors already qualified)- 12-16 will be reserves
NB: In the event of requiring a reserve, a competitor will be randomly selected from the remaining unqualified reserves.
BOARD RESCUE (18 teams per event)
- at carnival 1, top 6 will automatically qualify
- at carnival 2 top 6 will automatically qualify (excluding competitors already qualified)
- at carnival 3 top 6 will automatically qualify (excluding competitors already qualified)
NB: BR and B+R will run H -> F to qualify 18 teams per event. If qualified teams are unable to compete, teams will be randomly drawn from unqualified remaining semi-finalists to enable a full field.
BELT AND REEL
Ocean Grove will be a practice carnival and Elwood and Mount Martha will be qualifying carnivals.
MIXED RELAYS
Run mixed relay only (2M+2F) – any athletes not put into a team by their club will be randomised via SportApp into teams.
LOCAL RULE:
The intention is that the competitors who qualify are the competitors who race at VJLC. We acknowledge that there are at times, legitimate reasons (illness/ injury) whereby the 100% of the same qualifying team may not be able to compete at VJLC.
In that instance:
- Clubs may substitute up to 50% of the team only (the team competing at VJLC MUST contain at least 1 member of the qualifying team)
- Competitors who competed in another team that failed to qualify are unable to be used in the teams that have qualified for the restricted entry event.
- There will be no composite teams for Board Rescue or Belt and Reel.
- Restrictions for the VJLC will be reviewed at the conclusion of the 2024/2025 season.
