Award requirements

Must hold relevant awards and be proficient for their age group, including skills maintenance requirements if the award was previously completed, needs to be completed prior to close of entries for the carnival. This includes all U14s, who will require their SRC to be eligible to compete at the Victorian Lifesaving Championships.

Patrol Hour requirements

For the period 1 January to 31 December each year, a minimum of 16 hours of patrol service must be met (or other service as per SLSA Policy 5.04 and are recorded in Surfguard). Please note, U14’s Junior Activity Members who hold the Surf Rescue Certificate are exempt from having to perform patrol hours in accordance with SLSA Policy 5.04, in order to compete in any youth individual or team events.

Members who are recognised for other service to the Club are to be recorded within the Club Management Committee Minutes and all hours must be recorded on Surfguard prior to the end of season patrol log closure.

Exemptions

Members who have failed to meet the requirements of SLSA Policy 5.04 and wish to apply for exemption must do so on or before 31 January 2025 via one of the online applications (note: this deadline will be 19 January 2025 for Masters’, to align with close of entries for that event). The approval of requests for exemption are at the discretion of the LSV Director of Lifesaving Services and LSV Director of Aquatic Sport.

Please complete the online form, relevant to your exemption request, in its entirety and provide evidence where applicable, including endorsement from a club committee member. Upon submission, these requests will progress through the approval process and the outcome will be provided to the club and athlete. Please note, no late exemptions will be accepted, and all decisions are final.
