Question:
How does the KDS-DEC7 handle scaling and switching time with different resolutions?
Example:
In this example, a system including 2 KDS-EN7 units and 1 KDS-DEC7 units are set.
- The output resolution is set to 1080P on the first KDS-EN7 and to 4k on the second KDS-EN7.
- The KDS-DEC7 unit is connected to a 4k video wall setup.
Answer:
KDS-DEC7 has an internal scaler which can up/down scale the video stream and then output it to HDMI —> Display.
The internal scaler process results in a very short switching time:
- The scaling does not resync with the Display.
- The scaler converts the input resolution and refresh rate from the stream to the HDMI output.
It works like a frame buffer, the decoder decodes streams and puts it to a frame buffer, the HDMI engine will get the image from the frame buffer and to the HDMI sink, if the refresh rate does not match, the frame buffer will drop or repeat the last frame.
