Preview External Data

Using BCS Meta Man you can preview the external data prior to saving your BDC Model to SharePoint. This ensures the database connection information you have provided is correct and that you are connecting to the correct Table/View. The preview does not use any Secure Store Target Application ID you have specified, as BCS Meta Man is not connecting to the external system via SharePoint. Therefore the preview data option in BCS Meta Man is not verifying any Secure Store configurations you may plan to use with your BDC Model.

To preview external data:

1. In the entity title bar, click the preview data icon.
   
   A preview dialog box opens.
2. Review the data and then click the close icon (x) in the dialog box title bar.
