Linux gateways VIA GO2 and VIA Connect2 have AP mode in Wi-Fi option. AP Mode creates network to connect clients and use VIA devices features.

AP Mode Overview

VIA GO2 and VIA Connect2 gateways support two types of AP (Access Point) modes:

  1. Stand Alone Mode
  2. Enable Internet Mode

Stand Alone Mode

In Stand Alone Mode, the gateway creates a local Wi-Fi network that allows multiple devices to connect directly to it. This mode does not provide internet access.

  • Client Connection Limit: Allows up to 10 users to connect.

Enable Internet Mode

In Enable Internet Mode, the gateway creates a Wi-Fi network that provides internet access to connected devices. This mode is useful when you want to share internet connectivity with multiple users.

  • Client Connection Limit: Allows up to 9 users to connect.

Implications of Client Connection Limits

Understanding these limits is crucial for effective network management:

  • Stand Alone Mode: Suitable for small group meetings or environments where internet access is not required. Ensure that the number of users does not exceed 10.
  • Enable Internet Mode: Ideal for small groups needing internet access. Make sure to keep the number of connected users within the 9-user limit to avoid connectivity issues.
  • Other users can connect with Lan network in Enable Internet Mode.
