VDM 017 – Incidents & Emergencies

A Drone Operators primary responsibility is for the safe conduct of their flight. It is for this reason that a Drone Operators only role in a Patrol Group should be that of Drone Operator while the UAV is in operation.

The be clear, the Drone Operator should not also hold the positions of IRB driver/crew, First Aid/ART or Patrol Captain. UAV operations are not to be at the expense of covering the minimum requirements.

A Drone Operator may only conduct flights if all the minimum awards are covered by other Patrol Members.

During incidents, an active listen must be maintained on the radio to ensure all relevant information is received, such as the tasking of LifeSaver 45/46 to the area.
