VDM 011 – Equipment

The following is a list of the minimum equipment required for Drone Operations:

• Airworthy RPA – DJI Mini series or DJI Mavic series
• DJI Smart Controller – basic controllers relying on mobile phones/tablets are not endorsed
• Drone Operator high viz vest to be worn over Patrol Uniform
• Laptop/tablet with internet connectivity – must be readily available to check weather, etc. between flights
• GWN radio
• Minimum of 18 traffic cones – 400mm height at minimum
• Minimum of 3 Drone Operations signs – either small sandwich boards or standard SLSQ yellow signage on poles
• Landing pad
• A means of recording details of any incidents – paper and pen, smartphone notes app

The following is also suggested:

• Shade structure for Drone Operator – this is in addition to any Patrol Shelter between the flags
• Table
• Chairs
• Basic rescue and first aid equipment for emergency use – only when RPA is grounded
