In the event of a shark or crocodile sighting, the following precautions are recommended:
- Contact Patrol Captain, stating size and location of shark/crocodile, species of shark, if possible, proximity to water users, direction of travel etc.
- The Patrol Captain will organise a response. This may involve closing of the beach if the marine creature is deemed a threat
- Drop UAV to between 20m to 30m to help identify and track
- Maintain visual of marine creature via UAV camera keeping the shark in the middle of the screen
- Quickly and safely change batteries and re-establish visual contact with shark
- Record as much detail regarding the sighting as possible
- Be prepared to guide IRB/RWC to shark
