All requests for non-patrol use of club RPAs are to be forwarded to the State Drone Captain for consideration. This must include:

  • Intended purpose of flight – Nippers, Carnivals etc. – If there is a blanket approval, this would be contained within the LOP e.g. Marcoola Beach have approval to conduct flights 30 minutes before and during Nipper/Bronze training
  • Date and time of operations
  • For regularly occurring, non-patrol flights, such as North QLD clubs checking water before Nippers, indicate as best as possible the flight times and dates
  • Location of flights
  • Screenshot of flight area and airspace from a CASA approved application such as OpenSky or Ok2Fly if flight is outside the Local Operating Conditions flight area
  • Detailed site layout indicating take-off and landing zones and exclusion zone

Be aware that there are limitations of the Excluded Category under which the club drone program is conducted. Non-patrol flights may require a RePL holder to operate under the ReOC.
