Student Activity Funds are funds that are owned, operated, and managed by the student body under the guidance and direction of adults or a staff member for educational, recreational, or cultural purposes.

The purpose of having student activity funds should be to finance normal legitimate co-curricular activities of the student body organization. Student activity funds are monies generated by students’ participation, authorized to be spent by students and expended on behalf of the students.

Some examples of student activity funds include:

  • Student Clubs
  • Yearbook
  • Student Council
  • Class Years
  • Choral and Band Groups
  • Student Sponsored Bookstores

Scholarship Funds are funds that are raised for the purpose of providing an award to eligible students. These funds are owned, operated and managed by the District. The scholarship advisor determines eligible award recipients.

Morris Hills Regional District’s Student Activity Advisors are responsible for the accounting of all Student Activity Funds. Morris Hills and Morris Knolls High Schools each have a School Treasurer to assist Advisors with these tasks. All activities are under the direction and supervision of an Assistant Principal in each school. The Business Office is responsible for ensuring that the District is in compliance with all laws and regulations governing the use of Student Activity Funds.
