To understand how the importing and synchronization of departments works with EPC, consider the following example:

Inside the QMS environment in EPC, Corporate Headquarters is established as an organizational unit set.

  1. Child-Parent Department Import
    • Under the Corporate Headquarters set, Recruitment & Selection is listed as a child department of Human Resources.
    • For this reason, if the Recruitment & Selection department is imported using the Synchronization with EPC application, it will result in the Human Resources department being imported as well.
      • In the Organization Management application, the parent-child relationship between these two departments will be recorded, with Human Resources being linked as the parent department of Recruitment & Selection.
    • If the Employee Labor Relations department is imported, however, only Human Resource Compliance will be imported with it.
      • Although Employee Compensation & Benefits is listed as the parent department of Human Resource Compliance, it will not be imported.
      • In the Organization Management application, Human Resource Compliance is linked as the parent department of Employee Labor Relations; however, Human Resource Compliance itself does not have a listed parent department.
  1. Parent-Child Department Import
    • Under the Corporate Headquarters set, two new departments are created: Employee Performance Management and Succession Planning.
      • If Employee Performance Management is imported, it will be imported without a parent department.
      • If Succession Planning is imported, Employee Performance Management will be imported alongside it as the parent department.
