Chairs.
The TOC typically will have one chair or multiple co-chairs (preferably, one each from academia, industry, and government). In this Handbook, the term “chair” is used to refer to either the chair or co-chairs. In the case of a meeting with partners, each partner will have a minimum of 1 co-chair slot. In the case of partnered meetings, the ISES co-chair(s) is (are) responsible for ensuring ISES goals and objectives are met. The TOC may wish to design its own management structure, which should be proposed to, and approved by, the GSM Committee. However, there is a need to have 1 person responsible for interaction with the GSM Committee and empowered to instruct the Annual Meeting Contractor to act (within appropriate authorities).

It is recommended that the TOC be structured with sub-committees in order to create efficiencies and manage timelines. Below are a list of suggested sub-committees:
Scientific Committee – This committee works most closely with the submissions and the schedule and includes beta testing of the web-based abstract submission system, and organizing abstract reviews/ratings.
Exhibitor/Sponsor Committee – This committee assists with contacting and soliciting potential exhibitors and exhibitors.
Sensor Technology Fair – This committee or contact identifies and contacts potential academic and industrial organizations for the technology/sensor fair.
Plenary Speaker Recruitment – This committee identifies and contacts potential plenary speakers.
Pre-Conference Courses Committee – This committee organizes pre-conference courses, recruits potential instructors, determines room arrangements, seating, and audio-visual requirements.
Women’s Networking Event (WNE) Committee – This committee identifies where and what the WNE will include by arranging for such details as location, date/time and other details related to this event.
Student and New Researcher (SNR) Committee – This committee organizes the SNR events including the Student Poster Competition, SNR social events and other networking opportunities for the SNR attendees.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee  – This committee, along with the Society Diversity Committee, identifies gatherings and events to engage in meaningful discussions about diversity, equity and inclusion.
Community Outreach Committee —  This is a new committee.  This committee will assist in identifying, inviting and organizing the community involvement, including registration for community members, panel discussions, and other such organized efforts.  This committee will assist with tours and other interactive experiences for the attendees.
Carbon Neutral Committee — This is a new committee.  In an effort to create a carbon neutral event, this committee will work to ensure the planning and execution of the event will follow these guidelines.
