Extra efforts should be made to maximize the participation of students and new researchers. It is recommended that a junior ISES member or someone who has attended the Annual Meetings previously be involved with and mentor the students/new researchers on this committee. There are various opportunities, events and other programs to coordinate throughout the meeting.

  • Organize the student poster competition
  • Prepare marketing materials and communications to notify students of the competition.
  • Recruit judges for the competition (usually done through registration)
  • Identify criteria for evaluation of the posters
  • Distribute instructions to the student presenters about the competition and submissions
  • Organize and assign the posters and judges
  • Schedule the competition (preferably early in the meeting)
  • Communicate with and promote the winners

It is recommended that the SNR planning committee create or identify one activity every day for students and new researchers attending the meeting to network, connect and engage. This activity may be a happy hour, coffee/breakfast, mentoring sessions or other activities.
