Frequently, the terms presenters, speakers and submitters are used interchangeably. It’s very common to exchange those terms throughout the planning process.

Pre-Conference Workshop Presenters, Workshop Presenters: They are presenting a workshop that is prior to the annual meeting. These workshops generally longer than 2 hours. (In 2022 and 2021, the workshop presenters were given a 20% off discount code to register for the meeting.)

Speakers: These are people who are presenting the abstracts during the meeting, oral presentations.

Submitters: These are people who have submitted the research, independent abstracts or symposiums. They may or may not be authors and they may or may not be speakers.

Plenary Speakers: These are keynote speakers throughout the meeting. They are the VIPs and held in very high regard. Depending on the meeting, the speakers will receive complimentary registration.

Authors: These are people who have contributed to the research and the work of the abstract. In some cases, these people don’t even know they are authors. Not all authors will present but all authors do need to be listed as part of the abstract. (In 2022, we had to allow for up to 17 authors to be submitted.)

Annual Award Winners: There are 6 (or so) people who are recognized annually for their work in the field of exposure science. One of these people (the award winner of the Excellence award) presents his or her research on the last day of the conference. They receive different financial awards for this recognition.

Conference Award Winners: These are usually people who are students, new researchers and/or members from LMICs. They receive financial support to travel to and attend the meeting
