Practice II is offered in the third year of the BSW Program.

Social Work Practice II builds on the skills and knowledge of the first practicum with a goal of exposure to and involvement in more complex practice situations. Students integrate social work theories and methods in work with individuals, children and families, groups, or communities. Students are expected to demonstrate social work practice skills related to assessment, shared participation in the client change process, and interventions with a variety of client groups. A focus on reflective practice, professionalism, and social work ethics contribute to the continued development of social work identity.

This course consists of:

  • 350 Practicum hours including 332 practice hours completed at an approved agency and 18 hours of practicum integration seminars that students must attend, for a total of 350 practicum hours.
  • By the end of the Program as a graduate, you will have completed 775 hours (year one entry) or 700 hours (year 3 entry) of practicum practice and integration seminars.
  • Third-year entry students receive credit for one practicum placement completed as part of their diploma and therefore do not take Practice I or Practice II (SLWK 3397)
