Dear Bishop,
I am writing to you in my capacity as the Secretary of the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod.
It is our custom to extend greetings to the synods that are meeting in Assembly at the same time as ours. Our Synod will also be meeting in Assembly this weekend. The first of the resolutions proposed for adoption by the Assembly directs me to extend our greetings to your synod.
In the expectation that the resolution will be adopted on Saturday, I share the text of the resolution as follows:
Whereas, other synods in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) are meeting in assembly on the same day as the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod assembles; and,
Whereas, we are partners in the mission of the Gospel as part of this church; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod Assembly directs the Secretary of the Synod to extend to the other ELCA synods that are also meeting in assembly today our greetings in Christ and our prayers for their faithful deliberation as led by the Holy Spirit: Eastern North Dakota Synod, Florida – Bahamas Synod, Lower Susquehanna Synod, Metropolitan Chicago Synod, Montana Synod, Nebraska Synod, North Carolina Synod, Northeastern Ohio Synod, Northwestern Ohio Synod, Oregon Synod, South Dakota Synod, Southern Ohio Synod, Southeastern Synod, Southwest California Synod, West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod, and the Western North Dakota Synod.
On behalf of Bishop Ortiz and the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod, we pray God’s blessings on your Assembly, our shared mission, and the people of your Synod.
