The ACSW accreditation process for Alberta Diploma programs Standard 7.7 reads:

“Field instructors shall have RSW status. Where such supervision is not available, the program should provide alternative ways, such as an off-site RSW or faculty member, to enable the student to acquire a social work perspective. “

The Alberta College of Social Workers requires students who are not being supervised by a RSW to attend 4 additional group supervision sessions. Dates and times of these sessions will be posted on Blackboard at the beginning of the term. A student missing one or more sessions will not be eligible to have the supervisor sign off hours for ACSW registration purposes. The Practicum Coordinator, will send students a separate email if you are not supervised by a Registered Social Worker advising of the times and rooms where these supervision sessions will be held. Failure to attend all 4 seminars will mean that you will have not met the course requirements to pass the practicum course.

Students enrolled in group supervision for practicum students who do not have RSW field supervisors will log 12 hours towards their 350 required practicum hours.
