Locating Potential Agencies

Social work is at the heart of every community. Take time to look at the agencies, programs and services that are located in your community. Expand this by looking beyond to other areas of the city. This is where the internet will be helpful.

Here are some ideas for how to use the internet as a tool for locating potential agencies:

• Start by searching a social issue or population that interests you
• Review the resources available in the city
• Read the mission, vision and mandate of the agency
• Consider where it is located
• Write down the agency information and check the agency list that will be posted on the Practicum Blackboard sites
