During the difficult and unprecedented time of school closures as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak, Bright World is actively keeping in touch with our students at home and in host families.
We will be doing this by the means of online Skype/Zoom meetings, webinars and online hangout sessions. Staff need to be aware of the following for ensuring online safety during these times.
-Students and parents have been advised that students and anyone else who might appear on camera is appropriately dressed during online meetings/calls. Staff should ensure that they continue to dress professionally for these calls, as they would for an in-person meeting.
-Students and parents have been advised that students should be sitting in an open, communal area of the house when taking part in online calls/meetings and not in their bedrooms, or any other closed room, alone.
-If a Bright World Buddy/member of staff feels that their safeguarding, or that of the student has been compromised at any time or is at risk, they should immediately end the online meeting and inform Jenny Rumble, Director of Safeguarding.
-Students and parents have been advised that the Bright World emergency phone is still available for any urgent concerns and Bright World Buddies should continue to refer any concerns that arise out of hours to this number. For any concerns that arise in office hours, please continue to follow procedure and refer directly to the Head Office team as soon as possible.
-Although Bright World Buddies often communicate with their students for ease, please be reminded that no other form of social media should be used for student contact. Please report any attempts by students to connect with you via social media to Jenny Rumble, Director of Safeguarding.
-Ideally, communication regarding online meetings will take place via email.
