Thank you for your interest in becoming a host family for Bright World Guardianships. The role of the host family plays a vital part in the successful running of our business and our working relationship is very important to us.

This booklet is designed to explain the work that we do and to set out your responsibilities within that. We have many years’ experience with overseas students and we aim to share some of that knowledge with you so that you are better prepared when they arrive with you.

We also try to explain to you that although we try to be as efficient and organised as possible in our job, young teenagers as you are probably more than aware, have a mind of their own at times and sometimes change their plans at the last minute. We do ask our host families to understand this and to bear with us.

The host family role is a paid one but for our host families it is much more than that. The right host family can really make a difference to the experience a young person has whilst they are away from home in the UK. We have so many students who have become a part of the family and keep in touch year in and year out even when they progress to university. I hope you will find this booklet useful. Your feedback is very important to us. As a growing company it is the only way that we know we are doing things right. If you have any comments on this booklet or any of our systems or procedures and how they may be improved then please let us know by emailing jen@brightworld.co.uk

Becoming a host family for Bright World means that you buy into our commitment to safeguarding children. The nature of our relationship is a working one and if you sign our Charter, you are agreeing to enter into a spirit of cooperation with us, in the knowledge that everything does not always go to plan, being flexible and helping us to present a unified front with schools, students and parents. Thank you for choosing to work with Bright World and for helping us to care for our students.
