Types are used as another way of classifying Business Tasks or Transport requests. For example, a Business Task ‘Type’ can differentiate enhancements from fixes.
Types are created and edited by ActiveControl Administrators on the [Classification tab] of the Windows GUI configuration screen.
A type may either be assigned to a task or assigned to a transport request, as indicated by the Applies to property. Once a type has been created, this field cannot be changed. Types that have been used in the past but have now become obsolete may be hidden so that they can no longer be assigned by selecting the Hide this Item toolbar option.
*Types are typically used for Reporting purposes, or in some customers for driving skipping rules so that certain types of Business Tasks or Transports bypass certain parts of the workflow.
*Examples of commonly configured Business Task types include: Business Change, Incident Fix, Standard Change and Project Change.
Examples of common Transport Form types are: Customization, OSS Note, Merge, Authorizations, External Transport and Workbench.
*As of ActiveControl 9.00, it is possible to transport Type configuration between a non-Production Domain Controller and a Production Domain Controller. Please refer to this online Knowledge Article for details of how to configure this.
