All children and helpers must be members of Surf Life Saving before participating in part of the nippers program (with the exception of come and try days). SLSQ recommends that a parent/guardian join with a nipper, however this is at the clubs discretion. The fee structure and use of membership categories at each club is different.
Below is a basic guide to the many membership categories available to Surf Life Saving Clubs. By aligning with these categories and sub-categories, it allows for greater inclusion within our membership framework and ensures that statistics are consistent across all levels of the organisation. Please note that this advice and information is general in nature and Clubs should refer to the specific provisions in their constitution and by-laws to ensure adherence at Club level.

Junior Registration fees
All clubs are required to pay SLSQ a junior registration fee. The fees are paid annually to Surf Life Saving Queensland to partially fund Junior Development Programs, assist with organisational sustainability initiatives for future development, and contribute towards the members’ insurance premiums. Clubs are invoiced each year based on the final Junior Activities member numbers gathered from SurfGuard, and as published in the SLSQ Annual Report. Clubs should wait until a tax invoice is sent by SLSQ for the payment of these fees.
