Not only is Junior Activities a fun way for children to enjoy the beach in a safe environment, but it also offers an educational pathway through the delivery of the SLSA Junior Development Program.
The program is about children participating in safe, fun and organised activities, designed to teach lifesaving skills and safety around an aquatic environment; preparing them to be future lifesavers. With a focus on fun and education, activities are designed to progressively develop the essential skills and knowledge of nippers as they move through each stage of the program. Clubs tailor their program to suit the needs and varying skill levels of their junior members and unique beach conditions.
As part of the Junior Development and Junior Activities Programs, children have the opportunity to gain a junior development award each season; each member should be encouraged to attain their respective age award.
Members wishing to compete in Championship events must complete their respective Junior Activities Age Award prior to the close of entries of their respective Branch.
