Definitions of commonly used terms and names

Below you will find definitions of terms which are used a lot within our help and software.

  • 1-click-basket
    A module which is available for all shops, which allows you to add a product to the shoppingcart, using only a simple url.
  • Address screen
    This screen is part of your orderprocess, and lets the customer fill in their information for their order.
  • Approval screen
    This screen is part of your orderprocess, the customer will see a summary of their order and check if everything is in order. When the order is allright, the customer places the order permanently.
  • Confirmation screen
    This screen is part of your orderprocess, the customer will receive a confirmation of the placed order.
  • Confirmation mail
    This email is part of the orderprocess, this email will be send to the merchant and to the customer and will be used as an invoice.
  • Editor
    Most commonly this means the management environment for your shop, which is opened when you login at myShop.
  • Extension
    A special directive which can be used in xhtml templates inside an attribute of a tag (usually the style attribute)
  • Block
    A block is a individual piece of content which can be added to a page. This can be done using the blockeditor of a page. Example blocks are: Shoppingcart, Menu, Productlist, etc.
  • Homepage
    The default page in your shop. This page defines what the user sees when opening the shop without providing a pagename.
  • jQuery
    A javascript library, used for enriching user experience and providing tools to simplify javascript programming. This library is often used in myShop pages.
  • Lightbox
    A javascript library, which allows images to be opened in a larger view within the same webpage. In myShop pages the lightbox jQuery plugin is used instead of the default library.
  • Payment screen
    This screen is part of your orderprocess, and lets the customer choose which payment option they wish to use.
    - Optional: This screen is not shown when none or one payment option is provided in the shop settings.
  • Productlist
    Your product data, as Excel (offline) or available data in your shop.
    - Can also refer to productoverview.
  • Productoverview
    The overview of your products as it is displayed in your shop.
  • Productvariations
    Multiple versions of the same product, but with subtle differences like color or size.
  • Moreinfo
    This refers to the moreinfo screen of a product. When enabled, your customers can view more information about a product when clicking the link or the picture in the productlist overview. This is also the best place to show productvariations (like color, size) and matching products.
  • Orderprocess
    The steps that customers go through when placing an order.
  • Shipping screen
    This screen is part of your orderprocess, and lets the customer choose which shipping method they wish to use.
    - Optional: This screen is not shown when none or one shipping method is provided in the shop settings.
  • Shoppingcart
    Skin Page: This page contains the settings which will be used for your ordering process.
    Content Page / Template: This page is used to display the contents of the basket (ordered products) to your customers.
  • Skin
    The skin is the layout that defines the common part of your pages, like the header, menu’s and footers.
  • Validator
    The xHTML validator of the W3 consortium. Can be used to check xHTML files for any errors that might prevent uploading it in the editor.
