Voluntary Terminations
- A voluntary termination is a termination that is initiated by the employee. Out of courtesy, GRACE Christian School requests that employees give at least two weeks written notice before you leave your job. In addition, an Employee Exit Interview Form should be completed and submitted to the Human Resources Director prior to the last day of work. If you do not call in or report to work for 3 consecutive workdays, you may be considered to have voluntarily quit.
- An involuntary termination is a termination that is initiated by GRACE Christian School for reasons other than changing business conditions.
- A layoff is a termination of employment that results from changing business conditions, which necessitate a reduction in staff. If a reduction in staff must occur, it will be based on a combination of job performance, expertise, and credentials in needed areas.
Termination of Benefits for Full-Time Employees
Upon termination of employment, all health insurance benefits cease as of the end of the month during which the termination occurred. Since all faculty members are paid over the summer, this means insurance benefits stop on the last day of the faculty contract period which is usually May but may be June depending upon the faculty/staff calendar’s effect on faculty contract dates. To prevent gaps in health insurance coverage, the terminating employee is eligible for COBRA which is 100% of the monthly premium cost plus any administrative fees for the interim months before health insurance is available through a subsequent employer – up to a maximum of 18 months.
