We strongly encourage students who have not reached high school not to bring cell phones and other electronic communication devices to school. These devices are a distraction and can hinder the instructional environment. We encourage students and parents to communicate through their GRACE email if needed during the school day. The front desk is also available to relay any information to students if needed.

TK-6th Grade

Students will be required to keep all personal electronic devices (including cell phones and smartwatches) turned off or in do-not-disturb mode and out of sight for the duration of the school day.

7th – 8th Grade

Students will be required to keep all personal electronic devices (including cell phones and smartwatches) turned off or in do-not-disturb mode and out of sight for the duration of the school day. Students are not permitted to use Airpods or Bluetooth headphones. Students should have wired earbuds for computer use.

9th -10th Grade

Students are not permitted to have cellphones in class. (also includes no Airpods or Bluetooth headphones). Students should have wired earbuds for computer use. Students should not be using phones in the restroom or locker room at any time.

Permitted Usage:
Students in grades 9/10 are permitted to use their phones during the passing period time (5 minutes); (examples: checking the time, messages, updates about sports or other GRACE extracurricular activities, etc). If at any time a student is using their phone in an inappropriate way (examples: taking pictures inappropriately, recording others, etc.) it will be taken away by a teacher or administrator. Once a student enters the classroom, the phone must be put away and silenced. Students should not have their phones or Airpods/Bluetooth headphones out in the hallway during the class period. Teachers may use the cell phone holders as their classroom procedure or to be put in their book bags.

11th-12th Grade

Students are not permitted to have cellphones in class (also includes no Airpods or Bluetooth headphones). Students should have wired earbuds for computer use. Students should not be using their phones in the restroom or locker room.

Once a student enters the classroom, the phone should be put away and silenced. Students should not have their phones or Airpods/Bluetooth headphones out in the hallway during the class period.

Discipline Progression for All Grades:

  • First offense: The electronic device will be sent to the office where it will be held until the end of the school day.
  • Second offense: The electronic device will be kept in the office during school hours for 3 days.
  • Third offense: The electronic device will be kept in the office during school hours until the end of the current semester.
