Suicide Threat

  • Take ALL threats seriously. If a student makes a threat or you hear of a threat – you MUST report it to the administration. DO NOT leave the student unattended.
  • Administration or Guidance Counselor will interview the student and contact the parent(s)/guardian(s).

Suicide Attempt

Call 911 if necessary. Communicate the incident as a “serious injury” not a suicide attempt!

  • Begin appropriate first aid immediately if trained or get someone who is trained.
  • Send a designee to inform the school administrator who will make the following contacts:
Parents/guardians. Provide assistance and referral information as appropriate.
    Board Chairman
  • Secure a wide perimeter around the incident keeping all students and uninvolved school staff away from visual range of the scene.
  • Observe other students who may be at risk, i.e. close friends, siblings, etc.
  • Administrators will determine the information to be shared with the student body.
