If the student is sick or injured during the day, he/she should be sent to the office if it is safe to do so. The parent will be called and must arrange to pick him/her up.
Students may not remain in the office unless there are symptoms of a contagious illness and they are waiting to be picked up. Symptoms of illness may be found in the Parent/Student Handbook.
If a student is to take medication, the parent should take the medicine to the office after completing the online Request for Medication Administration form. Medicine is not kept in the classroom nor does the teacher administer medication.
If a student is injured, he/she should be sent to the office. A Student Injury/Accident Report should be completed by the supervising teacher if the injury is serious enough to warrant a call to the parent or emergency personnel.
Teachers should follow Universal Precautions for injuries and/or illnesses involving body fluids.
Bloodborne pathogen training will be held annually through Safe Schools. Documentation of training must be on file for all personnel.
In the event of an emergency or the administration of emergency medications (i.e. EpiPen), 911 should be called.
