Advanced Settings: Talk Down

Beginning in version 24.6, Orchid Recorder supports Camera Talk Down on cameras that support an audio backchannel via ONVIF Profile T. This means that you can actually transmit audio through the camera using a WebRTC Player on the Stage. This new feature is currently available on more recent camera models available from Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, and Vivotek, among others.

*If you upgrade to Orchid Recorder version 24.6 or greater, existing cameras that could support Talk Down will need to be Recovered in order for the feature to become available.

1. At the Camera Configuration screen, click the camera you want to edit.
2. Go down to the Advanced Settings section.

3. Then click the Talk Down Edit button to open the Talk Down screen.

*If you don’t see Talk Down listed in the Advanced Settings section, you may need to Recover the camera.

4. Mark the Enable check box if you want to enable Talk Down. Unmark the Enable check box if you want to disable Talk Down.
5. When you are finished, click the Update Camera button.

*If you try to use Talk Down, but there is no audio output at the camera, you may have to troubleshoot on the camera end. Check to make sure the camera has a built-in speaker, or that a speaker has been connected to the camera. You may also have to edit the camera settings to turn the speaker on.
