Runaway
- Take all threats seriously.
NOTE: If a student threatens to run away, do not allow the student to leave campus unsupervised. - Notify the school administrator who will:
Interview the student.
Take appropriate action based on the results of the interview.
Notify the parents. - Appropriate school personnel should monitor the student after the incident.
- If a student has already run away, the parent or school administration will notify law enforcement immediately.
- All involved should document all actions taken, noting the time and names of those involved and submit to administration.
Missing Students
If a student is missing from a designated area on campus:
- The administration should be notified of the situation.
- If a search of the school perimeter fails to locate the student, and the student cannot be accounted for otherwise, the parent(s) or guardians of the student should be notified.
- If the student cannot be found on campus, the administration will determine whether it is necessary to contact local law enforcement. Early involvement of law enforcement enhances the chances of locating a missing student.
Out of Control Students

- If further assistance is needed, support personnel can be requested to talk to the student in an attempt to calm him/her down.
- Parents should be notified and asked for assistance if the student continues to be out of control.
- If the student cannot be calmed down and/or is a danger to himself or others, law enforcement should be contacted at 911.
