Timemachine readers with an X in the product name (Eg. Pro XWR, Club XR, etc) have a built in network router.
It is important to check this router is running the latest firmware, to ensure that network communications with your reader are not lost.
Procedure to check the router firmware version
- Turn on the reader
- Connect via lan cable to PC
- Browse to http://192.168.0.1 (or a different address if you have changed the address in the router)
- When asked for a password, use admin/admin by default
- Click on “System settings”
- Check the “Software Version” (at the top of the page). The new firmware is V7209.5. If the version is different (eg V7209.3) then a firmware update is required.
To update firmware:
Download the new firmware file Trident_V7209_5.uImage and save it to your computer
- Turn on the reader
- Connect via lan cable to PC
- Browse to http://192.168.0.1 (or a different address if you have changed the address in the router)
- When asked for a password, use admin/admin by default
- Click on System settings
- On the left, click on Management
- Click on Firmware Update
- Click on choose file
- Select the Trident_V7209_5.uImage file you saved to your computer in step 1 and press Open
- Press apply
- When asked, confirm that you want to upgrade the firmware by pressing OK
- Wait 2 minutes for the firmware update to complete
After 2 minutes the firmware update will be complete. It is important now to perform a factory reset of the router settings.
- Browse to http://192.168.0.1 and use admin for the username and password as before
- On the left, click on Management
- Click on Setting management
- Click the Load Default button
Now your router is running the latest available firmware.
