Transaction categories integration

As part of this feature, Transaction categories are integrated from Project Operations to Business Central. This integration supports creation, modification, and updates of transaction categories from Project Operations to Business Central.

A new field is introduced as BC integration Valid on Transaction Categories form under evergreen section and the Transaction Category List page in Project Operations. This field determines the validity of Transaction Category integration in Business Central. Automatically updated to ‘Yes’ when Billing type is Chargeable with Active status; updated to ‘No’ otherwise.

Fields Description
BC Integration Valid
  • Yes/No field
  • When Transaction Category billing type is set to Chargeable, this field is automatically updated to ‘Yes
  • When it is set to any other billing type other than Chargeable, or the transaction category is deactivated, it is automatically updated to ‘No

Transaction Category Integration in D365 Business Central

A new table, “Dataverse Categories,” has been introduced in Business Central to streamline the integration of categories from Project Operations. This integration ensures seamless synchronization and supports both manual and automatic updates between Project Operations and Business Central.

Users can create, modify, and delete categories from Project Operations directly into Business Central.

Users can select a record in the Dataverse Categories form and manually trigger the “Create Business Central” button. This action will create categories in Business Central or update existing records if modifications are made in Project Operations.
A “Coupled” field in the Dataverse Categories table switches to “Yes” upon successful creation of the categories in Business Central.

Automatic Integration

Dataverse Categories table facilitates automatic integration of categories from Project Operations to Business Central. Users have the option to configure batch processes that automatically create or update categories in Business Central based on changes made in Project Operations.

Categories deletion

A new table, “Dataverse Deleted Categories,” has been introduced in Business Central to streamline the integration of deleted categories from Project Operations. This integration ensures seamless synchronization and supports both manual and automatic deletion between Project Operations and Business Central.

Users can select a record in the Dataverse Deleted Categories form and manually trigger the “Create Business Central” button. This action will delete categories in Business Central.

A “Coupled” field in the Dataverse Deleted Categories table switches to “Yes” upon successful deletion of the categories in Business Central.

Enhanced Ledger Posting Configuration

New fields are introduced in Project posting Groups in Business central to define Ledger posting configuration based on integrated transaction categories and transaction class (ex. Hour, fee and expenses etc.,)

Fields Description
Transaction Category Name
  • A drop-down list field
  • The drop-down list displays Transaction categories which are Chargeable and Active only
  • It is an Editable field
Transaction Class
  • A drop-down list field
  • The drop-down list displays Transaction class associated with a particular Posting group
  • E.g., Fee Posting Group has Transaction class set to Fee
Default
  • A checkbox field
  • This field can be checked when a particular group is not associated with any Transaction Category, indicating the Accounts specified to be used as Default for that Posting Group
  • It is an Editable field
