Prevention Tips

  • Check with your physician concerning your general health and about any recommended medications or inoculations
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and hot water
  • Carry antibacterial hand wipes and/or liquid hand sanitizer with you and use them before you handle food or touch your mouth, eyes, nose, or ears
  • Use the CDC’s Traveler’s Health Kit (http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/pack-smart#travelhealthkit) as a guide for packing supplies you will need to stay healthy on your trip—including items such as sunscreen and insect repellent, prescription medicines, and basic first-aid necessities (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/yellowbook/2018/the-pre-travel-consultation/travel-health-kits).
